Some people in the internet marketing business might feel guilty from time to time if they tricked someone into opting into their mailing list through black hat tactics, but if you are giving away a product in exchange for an opt in, there is really nothing for you to feel guilty about. After all, the person has already got a product from you and as long as the product is decent (it does not even really have to be innovative as long as it is well written), you really have nothing to worry about when it comes to them getting use out of it. If the person wants to, they can even remove themselves from your mailing list.

Well, if you take a look at most of the free e-books that are available online, most of them give you the right to distribute that e-book for free and that includes offering the e-book as a free gift for signing up to a mailing list. Just find a book that is related to your subject matter and that you think is well written and you are ready to start enticing people to sign up for your mailing list and get a free e-book download in exchange.
